IP address management based on paper or electronic spreadsheets does not allow controlling permanent or mobile workstation location changes. In today’s dynamic computer network environment, automatic IP address management systems are a must.
Comda supplies IP address management systems, which provide users with:
VitalQIP from Lucent is the top IP (Internet Protocol) management system in the world that supports Domain Name System (DNS) management, IP networks and network categories, and Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol )DHCP) servers.
VitalQIP supports an entire outlook of the client IP network with separation ability as a network, network category, domain, DNS server, DHCP server or by a user-defined hierarchy. The VitalQIP supports a variety of user interfaces from Windows 95/98/NT/2000 to Motif, as well as Web management interface with safe access; allows network managers to allocate addresses and issue reports (on conditions they have a safe password that enables passing through the firewall). The software operates under a range of operation systems: Windows NT/2000, Solaris, HP-UX and AIX. In addition, VitalQIP does not support only Lucent DNS/DHCP servers, but also IBM and Microsoft NT/2000 servers.
VitalQip’s advantage is in its ability to provide a complete, wide IP network management package. Most of the competing products focus on IP services that are limited to DNS and DHCP services as opposed to VitalQip, which is a comprehensive IP management system that focuses on an all-inclusive network management solution.
The VitalQIP design concept is the option to manage networks with a few thousand to millions of IP destinations. VitalQIP can allocate and manage addresses in all the remote websites, update the central systems of the address allocations, and supply various reports about address activity. Most of the computer systems existing today are based on IP addresses, something that requires professional and central IP resource management, i.e. applying DDNS regimes (deciphering between the computer name and its address in the network without the need for prior registration) and DHCP (giving the network configuration of a certain computer from a central place, and in this way, avoid the need to approach a specific computer in order to change its network definitions).
Address distribution in the network performed manually and without any computerized control exposes the organization to mistakes and their outcome (crashes, discrepancies, etc.). In spite of the fact that various operating systems (like UNIX and NT) provide some of the services required to manage IP resources, they are incomplete. These services are in fact a bonus to the operating system and as such, they are not products in themselves and their standard is accordingly. When using such tools, there is not open address database that allows receiving reports, queries or backups. In addition, using a central tool from a certain company causes discrepancies in work with other systems (like NT with UNIX, etc.).
The system is the only one of its kind which is installed operationally in over 20 large clients in Israel, and is in the advanced pilot stage with some addition clients. The software’s market share worldwide captures 50% of the IP management systems sales in large organizations.
Clients in Israel who apply the VitalQIP solution: Israeli Air Force, ECI, Teva, Oil Refineries, Israel Police, the Transport Ministry, Motorola Israel, Israel Discount Bank, the Education Ministry, Yellow Pages, El Al, and more.
